PENSTOWE PARK HOLIDAY VILLAGE

Penstowe  Park Holiday Village is set in nearly 30 acres of parkland situated in the grounds of a 19th Century Manor House.

Penstowe is in the perfect location to explore every part of Cornwall & Devon, being just off the A39 Atlantic Highway accessing the many attractions could not be easier.   Visit the historic fishing village of Clovelly, Boscastle, Padstow, Eden Project, The Milky Way & The Big Sheep the list is endless.   

KILKHAMPTON

Kilkhampton is a village just north of Bude on the A39. This village dates back to beyond Saxon times.  Here the remains of a 12th Century Motte & Bailey style Norman castle can still be seen and the Church of St James the Great is at least 450 years old.

Kikhampton has a primary school, a community centre called the Grenville Rooms, there are 2 general stores, two pubs The London Inn & The New Inn both serving food & drink, Fish & Chip Shop, Pizza Ape Take-Away, Chinese Take- Away & Friars Tea Rooms all within walking distance off the chalet.        

 BUDE

Bude is a small seaside resort  in North East Cornwall at the mouth of the River Neet. Bude’s coast faces Bude Bay in the Celtic Sea, part of the Atlantic Ocean.  Bude was a popular seaside destination in the 20th Century and still remains a popular today.

Bude Town has a large variety of Shops, Banking Facilities, Super-Markets, Petrol Stations, Restaurants, Café’s & Pubs to suit all tastes.  With numerous parking and beach car parks there’s no excuse not to visit.  Bude has two popular beaches Summerleaze Beach & Crooklet’s Beach, Bude Sea Pool and Bude Canal.

Summerleaze Beach is a popular sandy stretch featuring a saltwater rock pool, beach huts, café with ample parking spaces. The river, with it’s bobbing fishing boats, flanks the wide, sandy beach that is sheltered by the impressive breakwater making the beach popular with families and surfers.   Dogs must be on a lead from 21st May to 30th Sept from 10am- 6pm.

Crooklet’s Beach is a firm favourite with vistors & locals alike. A wide expanse of golden sand is exposed at low tide, boarded by rocky outcrops ideal for rock pooling.  There is a promenade offering great views of the beach, pirate ship play area , Rosie’s kitchen and Pitch n Put . Crooklet’s is at the North side of Bude and can be reached by a short walk over the Summerleaze Down or down the hill from the town centre.

 

Bude Sea Pool is a partially man – made tidal swimming pool in the rocks at Summerleaze Beach. It was created in 1930 to provide a safe haven for swimming for the people of the town. Almost over 50,000 people visit every year making it the Number One visitor attraction in Bude.  Access to Bude Sea Pool is unrestricted and free of any admission charge.

Bude Canal was built to serve the hilly hinterland in the Devon & Cornwall border territory chiefly to bring lime-bearing sand for agricultural fertiliser. It was built in 1823.  The canal is a haven for wildlife and an anglers paradise (permits are available locally).  The Bude Tourist Information & Canal Interpretation Centre is open to members of the public and they have information on the history of the canal and the various trails from which you can gain a first hand impression of this unique waterway.
